The Segugio Italiano or the Italian Hound is among the oldest breeds of scent hounds, which dates back to ancient Egypt and the Roman ages.
Thought to be descendants of Phoenician and Celtic hounds and displaying traces of Mastiff blood, these active hunting dogs were originally developed to hunt wild boars in the harsh territory of Italy.
