Introduction to the Biewer Terrier
The Biewer Terrier is a very rare and beautiful toy breed developed in Germany in 1984. Yorkshire Terrier breeders Werner and Gertrude Biewer created this happy-looking small dogs after some puppies with distinctive tricoloured patterns appeared at their kennel.
By selective breeding, they came up with a new breed with a rare piebald gene, which was not common in Yorkies. The outcome was the Biewer Terrier- adored due to its vibrant coat and its intelligent, fun loving character.
The Biewer Terrier was acknowledged by the American Kennel Club (AKC) in 2021, becoming the first breed confirmed not on pedigree but rather by genetic testing.
