A new kind of getaway has opened in Maharashtra’s Kolad region, redefining traditional vacation norms. Junglebrooke, launched by SaffronStays, is being hailed as India’s first true “pet first” retreat, where animals take priority and humans simply join them for the experience.

A new kind of holiday spot has opened in Maharashtra’s Kolad region, offering a very different travel experience. Junglebrooke, created by SaffronStays, is being called India’s first real “pet first” retreat. It is a place where pets come first, and their owners join in to enjoy the experience with them.

Built Inside AMTM With 400 Plus Rescued Animals Next Door

The retreat’s unique setting places it in the midst of AMTM Kolad, home to more than 400 rescued animals including dogs, cats, cows, pigs, ducks and rabbits. Junglebrooke features eight eco friendly cottages constructed using sustainable materials, with interiors crafted from recycled Film City set pieces.

Visitors can participate in guided tours of the rescue center, join yoga sessions, explore forested trails, relax in reading corners or simply spend time with the animals. The retreat is designed with pets at the forefront: a dedicated pool, secure spaces for exploration and complimentary meals are included as part of every stay. Each booking covers two adults and one pet with no additional charges, a departure from the usual restrictions that complicate pet travel in India.

Early Visitors Highlight a Shift in Indian Pet Travel

Pet owners have welcomed the concept enthusiastically. One guest, Rhea, said her dog “finally felt truly welcome here, not just tolerated,” while Karan described the getaway as “a holiday built for pets, not people.” Another visitor, Meera, said the experience felt more meaningful because it directly supported AMTM’s rescue efforts.

The initiative builds on years of support from industry partners who have helped AMTM expand its animal welfare work. Junglebrooke now stands as a showcase for what mindful travel can look like in India: sustainable, compassionate and purpose driven.

A New Standard for Pet Friendly Tourism

With the rise of pet parenting and demand for responsible travel options, Junglebrooke aims to fill a long standing gap in the hospitality sector. Its combination of eco design, ethical animal care and guest comfort marks a shift in how pet friendly stays are imagined.

Backed by AMTM, the retreat positions itself as more than a holiday destination. It is a model for inclusive and impactful travel, suggesting that Indian tourism is ready to evolve toward experiences that benefit both people and animals.
