Belgian Malinois exudes a great deal of smartness and confidence. This is further accentuated by their square and athletic build. They stand tall, typically ranging from 22 to 26 inches in height, with males weighing up to 36 kg and females up to 27 kg. Their strong but elegant appearance is a testament to their hardworking and dedicated nature. Despite their tough outer appearance, they form tight bonds with their owners. So much so that the American Kennel Club says that denying them companionship is like denying them of their birthright.

As the name suggests, they were first bred near the city of Malines in Belgium. Although this Belgian dog breed was initially intended for herding, its drive and trainability allowed it to pursue a variety of professions, such as police work, search and rescue, and drug and bomb detection.
