The Bronze Corydoras (Corydoras aeneus) is a top freshwater catfish, cherished for its friendly nature and lively social behavior. These little bottom-dwellers are renowned for their brassy bronze-green sheen, spherical snouts, and friendly social behavior.

Bronze Corydoras make perfect beginners' and hobbyists' fish. They are sturdy, shoaling, and efficient tank cleaners as they constantly scour around for remains of food from the substrate. They also make a good choice to include in a community tank because they are peaceful and that they school.

Origin of the Bronze Corydoras

Bronze Corydoras inhabit the sluggish rivers and streams of South America, mostly in Argentina, Colombia, and Venezuela. They thrive in soft sandy river bottoms with leaf litter and root plants. In captivity, by replicating such a natural setting, they can feel comfortable and stress-free.

Temperament of the Bronze Corydoras

They are docile, peaceful, and very active fish, so they'll spend most of their time at the bottom of the tank in a small school. They are not aggressive and are at ease with other non-aggressive fish. Bronze Corydoras are schooling fish — it is recommended to keep at least 5–6 together in order to make them feel secure and encourage natural behavior.

Bronze Corydoras Compatibility with Other Fish

Bronze Corydoras are ideal for community aquariums. They go well with:

  1. Tetras and rasboras
  2. Guppies and mollies
  3. Dwarf gouramis
  4. Platies and swordtails

Do not keep them with large or fighting tank-mates like cichlids since they will be stressed or injured.

Price Range of the Bronze Corydoras

They are cheap and easily found in most pet stores. A healthy Bronze Corydoras would cost between ₹150–₹400 ($2–5) depending on the size and age.
