Black-Spot Corydoras Care Tips: Tank Setup, Diet & Common Problems
Black-Spot Corydoras, also known as Spotfin Corydoras, is a peaceful, small catfish featuring many dark spots all across its body, especially its fins. Corydoras punctatus is, in fact, its scientific name. It is fun for one to watch its unique pattern as it digs through some plants along with moving in the tank.
This fish comes from South America and is used to shallow, sunny creeks with sandy or sandy-muddy bottoms. Some even live in areas that flood or along the edges of forests
Black-Spot Corydoras usually reach about 4.0-5.5 cm in length when fully grown.
Black-Spot Corydoras Origin
- South America, especially the Rio Ambyiacu in Peru and French Guiana.
- Shallow, sunny creeks and edges of flooded forests with soft, sandy or muddy bottoms.
- Because their natural home is soft and sometimes flooded, they are used to gentle water movement and like to have places to hide.
Black-Spot Corydoras Temperament
- They are very peaceful and enjoy being in groups and are more active when kept together.
Black-Spot Corydoras Compatibility
- Good tank mates: Small tetras, rasboras, peaceful gouramis, and guppies are calm fish.
- Avoid: Large or aggressive fish can be avoided as they might bully them or disturb the bottom.
Black-Spot Corydoras Price (India)
This is a rarer Corydoras, so prices are often higher. But, you can expect ₹800-₹1,500 per fish, depending on size and availability.
